Kamala Harris

Kamala Devi Harris born October 20, 1964) is an American lawyer and politician who is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female elected vice president, and she also holds the title of most powerful female officer in the history of America. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017 and she was a United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born in Oakland and graduated from Howard University, University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. In 2010, she was appointed Attorney General of California and then re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris beat Loretta Sánchez in the 2016 Senate elections, becoming the second African American woman, and the first South Asian American, to be senator in the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform, federal cannabis de-scheduling, the possibility of citizenship for immigrants without a legal status, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She is well-known for the direct questioning she conducted of Trump government officials in Senate hearings.
